Painting and decorating services
I cover the full range of painting and decorating work across Hertfordshire, inside and out. That includes the specialist finishes I spent 25 years perfecting on film sets.
-
Kitchen cupboard painting
Painting your kitchen cupboards costs a fraction of new units and can change the whole room in a few days. The finish only lasts if the doors are degreased, keyed and primed properly first, and that preparation is most of the job.
-
Interior decorating
I decorate single rooms, whole floors and whole houses across Hertfordshire: walls, ceilings, skirting, architraves, doors and windows. Good decorating is mostly preparation, so I fill, sand and prime properly before any colour goes on.
-
Exterior painting
Exterior paint has to cope with rain, frost and sun, so it fails fast if the preparation is skipped. I scrape, fill, sand and prime every surface first, then paint with exterior-grade products suited to render, brick, timber or metal.
-
Wallpaper hanging
I hang everything from lining paper to expensive designer and mural wallpapers, with the pattern matched across every join. Most of the work is in preparing the wall so the paper sits flat and the seams stay closed.
-
Doors and staircases
Front doors and staircases are the woodwork people touch most, so they need a tougher finish than walls. I strip back failing paint, fill and sand, and use hard-wearing primers and topcoats so the finish stays smooth.

Faux marbling
Faux marbling is a hand-painted finish that makes wood, plaster or MDF look like real marble. It's built up in thin glazes and fine veins, so it costs far less than stone and can go on surfaces stone never could.
-
Wood graining
Wood graining is a traditional technique that makes a painted surface look like natural timber such as oak, mahogany or walnut. It's ideal for matching new joinery to original woodwork, restoring a period door, or giving MDF the look of real wood.
