Thirty years with a brush
I trained as a painter and decorator and hold a City & Guilds qualification in the trade. The fundamentals haven't changed in 30 years: careful preparation, the right paint for the surface, and a steady hand on the cutting-in.
Twenty-five years on film sets
For most of my career I worked in the film industry, painting sets for some of the biggest productions shot in Britain, including the James Bond films Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace and Skyfall, plus Batman, Wonder Woman, Mission: Impossible and Fury.
Set painting is decorating with no room for error. A set has to look real in close-up on a cinema screen, it sometimes has to be finished overnight, and plaster, timber and fibreglass have to pass as marble, aged oak, rusted steel or crumbling stone. That's where I learned the specialist finishes I now offer to homes: faux marbling, wood graining and ageing effects.
Back to homes and businesses
Now I'm bringing that experience to homes and businesses across Hertfordshire. Some of my work is straightforward decorating, done properly. Some of it is the kind of specialist finish that's hard to find anyone to do.
How I work
- You deal with me directly, from the first message to the finished job.
- I look at the job, or your photos, and give you a clear price before I start.
- Furniture and floors are covered, and I clean up every day.
- I'll tell you honestly if something isn't worth doing, like painting peeling vinyl-wrapped cupboards.
